Thank you  My godfather thinks I should put my cat down for her age when I move down to the US, and that is extremely insulting to me. Yes the cat is 12-13 years old, but we've been through a lot together and it's up to her body to decide when to give up, not me.

Ah I understand both views. But I agree with you! I'm pretty sure that she's been wih you through thick and thin. Have you tried talking to him calmly lately after your dispute? Just sit down when his calm and if you both start to get a little heated, just try your best not to insult him even if he starts to. The key is to be calm and that may help out :)

Talking to him calmly would be ideal. Just that he likes to be condescending and in total control of everything. Hopefully in the next few days things will start returning back to normal, meanwhile at least he's allowed me a lot more peace of mind so I can focus on what I have to do instead of constantly looking behind my shoulder.

Ok that's good that he's giving you a little space. :) I hope things work out well with the whole move and your cat ;) if U need to talk more let me know c:

Thank you for caring  At 33 I'd like to think I can sort things out for myself, but that also means I got my cat when I was 20-21 as a student in a field of university I really did not like (economics). Almost gave it up, but got my bachelor's in the end just for a sense of completion and then turned around towards photography and visual arts where I find myself now. My cat's been there almost throughout, very shy as I rescued her from the animal shelter, but always very affectionate towards me... so it breaks my heart whenever anyone suggests I put her down just because it's an inconvenience to bring her over the border from Canada to the USA.

Ah I understand. A sweet cat is hard to ignore let alone give away/put down. I don't know anything bout the immigration process but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be so hard. It's good that you feel ready tomove onto a new stage in your life!
