Coastal scenery from Cape Town, South Africa. HDR composite from multiple exposures.
Specially dedicated to my father Gérard Raymond who would have been 65 today, but unfortunately lost his life to pancreatic cancer in 2010. Such a magnanimous spirit who would for example share the frequent flyer miles accumulated through his missions and take us to amazing places like this. My number one inspiration in so many areas including photography. Even though it's hard sometimes, I still try to remember him above all for his Joie-de-Vivre (French for Joy of Living). Too young to pass away, but at least he enjoyed life to the fullest To capture that essence I took the following photo of him on that same trip to South Africa:
I also want to express my condolences and deepest admiration for Nelson Mandela. Another exceptional role model of mine and a perfect example of the best qualities humanity has to offer. Most inspiring to me was his strength of character to forgive despite all the years of oppression and his personal incarceration. Kind of puts my own issues into perspective like a tiny drop of water in a vast ocean. Together with my father who always believed there was a solution to every problem, I would therefore like to end on a more positive note and celebrate all the good they left behind... like soul fragments that continue to live on as long as we cherish them.
By that token I am releasing this photo for free at super high res without watermark. It's also that time of year for giving, hope you enjoy
